After my grammar class for 2 hours I have my conversational spanish with Professora Soledad. She is a blast. Its good that my grammar professora is strict and gets down to the nitty gritty and than to have a change of pace and practice what I learn in real conversation. We went to el mercado; diez de Agosto. All the local markets around here are named after dates. This one was huge, with everything from medicinal herbs to raw hanging meat. The fruits and vegetables were beautiful with many little Ecuadorian women sitting behind the stands peeling and waiting patiently to sell to any friendly customer.
Me and professora Soledad. ( I'm tall here! well I also wear boots..)
Pig legs?..sick nasty and the smell you can only imagine...
My house mom making empanadas! I helped!:)
tomorrow is a HUGE FIESTA. no work or school! they celebrate ano viejo (the old year)
instead of celebrating the new year-the end of the year.
My house mom has been cooking a lot. Its tradition for all families to gather and have a HUGE FEAST
dress up and dance!
After Christmas in Cuenca it is common for guys especially to start reeking havoc up until the 'carnival', which is in March. The havoc= throwing water balloons and lighting off fireworks at random. Its funny, Bruno will get scared sporadically because of the fireworks. Yesterday I had a DRIVE BY WATER BALLOONING! A car full of boys attempted to target me with 2 bombas de agua but failed miserably. Scared me half to death though, wasn't expecting that! (Fortunately I had been warned though)
I painted for my house mom's birthday (isn't for a couple months..)
Painting while raining= new favorite pass time
Well I have more spanish homework and have to wake up early!! Although school is canceled my grammar professor still wants to have class in a cafe...still at 8 in the morning..lol
Goodnight and Godbless! God is GREAT!!:)
